Lewisham Hospital extension
Carillion successfully completed and handed over the £60 million PFI extension to Lewisham Hospital in London in December 2006 to client Ravensbourne Health Services. The extension named ‘Riverside’ consists of 22,000 square metres of hospital, comprising theatres, theatre recovery, specialist treatment rooms, CCU, HDU and four-bed wards, across seven levels. One of the key success factors in winning the project was the design and the maximum use made of the available site. The Riverside is flanked on three sides by the existing hospital and on the fourth by the Ravensbourne river. The weaving ‘S’ shape of the Ravensbourne river led to the design of an ‘S’ shaped building. Carillion will now deliver facilities management services at the hospital under the terms of a 30-year PFI contract. | |
